As reported in Forbes, personal finance site WalletHub took a look at the 150 most populous cities in the U.S. to come up with their list of the Best and Worst Cities for Jobs in 2015. They looked at two key categories, job market and socioeconomic environment, and Sioux Falls was ranked fourth best.
The SBE Council released its 19th annual Small Business Policy Index 2014: Ranking the States on Policy Measures and Costs Impacting Small Business and Entrepreneurship. The Index ranks the 50 states according to 42 different policy measures, and South Dakota was named the most entrepreneur-friendly state.
24/7 Wall Street's report The Best and Worst Run States in America: A Survey of All 50 determines how well states are run. Midwest states, including South Dakota, were at the top of the list.
The Newgeography.com article "America's Smartest Cities" looked at metro areas to determine which ones are gaining brainpower in the 21st century based on three criteria. The Sioux Falls MSA ranked number 33 of the 380 metros surveyed.
WalletHub ranked the 150 most populated cities in the U.S. across 16 key metrics to find the highest and lowest concentrations of economically disadvantaged people. Sioux Falls was ranked highly in Economic Well Being and Health & Safety.
With 30 percent of the 160,000+ population base in Sioux Falls over the age of 50 and a cost-of-living index below the national average, Money touted our top-notch health care, dining scene, attractions and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute among the community's positives. Sioux Falls was named one of the nine great places to live in the "best places to keep cost low" category.
According to the Tax Foundation's 2015 State Business Tax Climate Index, South Dakota is among the Top Ten, coming in at number two, just behind Wyoming. A few neighboring states didn't fare so well, with Iowa ranked 41 and Minnesota 47.
For the second year, Sioux Falls was recognized as one of America's 50 eCities by Google. The award recognizes the strongest online business community in each State.
According to movoto.com, Sioux Falls is one of the best places in the Midwest to call home. Ranking number nine, Sioux Falls has reasonable commute times, low unemployment and cost of living, affordable home and rent prices, in addition to the lowest taxes on the entire list of Midwest cities.
