Property Description

Land buyers and speculators should jump at the chance to purchase this outstanding Central South Dakota agriculture land. Three tracts of nearly contiguous farm land for sale, which total 950 acres.
This gently sloping, highly tillable farm ground is located six miles north and east of Plankinton, SD in Palatine Township of Aurora County. Easy access on county road - one mile east of U.S. Highway 281 (just north of I-90).
There are excellent soil types and ratings in all three tracts. The 630 acres in Section 17 have a very good combined soil rating of .690, featuring highly rated Houdek-Prosper and Clarno Loam soils. In the 160 acres in Section 7 the soil rating is .719 and in the 160 acres in Section 9 the soil rating is an excellent .745 (more Clarno Loam).
Withstanding an occasional dry year, local tenants have put together solid grain yields while farming this land the past decade. A 150 bushel per acre corn harvest is not uncommon on the full section of land and the FSA counter-cyclical yield are posted at 110 bushel per acre. Wheat has been averaging a strong 50 bushels per acre and soybeans are listed at 33 bushels per acre. In section 7, the corn yield last year was 135 bu./acre with an average CC wheat yield of 53 bu./acre. A big corn yield of 175 bu./acre was recently harvested in Section 9.
An added benefit for the outdoorsman is the abundant wildlife in this area. Trophy deer roam freely on this land and the pheasant hunting can only be described as bountiful.
