Property Description

These 4 productive parcels of Southeastern South Dakota farmland are being offered for sale with the buyer able to take immediate possession. The 968 taxable acres are located in Clay County near Meckling, SD, which is situated along Hwy 50, northwest of Vermillion. All 4 parcels are (or will be) irrigated and all 4 are leased for one year

The 318.17 acres in Section 22 have direct entrance to the north side of Hwy 50 and also have access to the railroad line. The farm ground has recently been enhanced by the installation of a drain tile system. Three separate pivots allow for efficient irrigation coverage to this somewhat L-shaped property

Located in the NW corner of Section 27 of Meckling Township, this 157 acre parcel has been a reliable producer of corn and soybean crops for years. Very good soil ratings , plus an irrigation pivot has resulted in tremendous annual yields

The convenience of planting and harvesting mile long rows is a plus for the 331 acres of farm land in the east half of Section 9. The entire parcel has been pattern tiled and is serviced by two full irrigation pivots, one in each quarter section.

Two 82 acre parcels in Section 9 were added within the past year to the Meckling Land.  The two parcels, which form the SW1/4 of Section 9, are scheduled to be irrigated sometime in 2018 and the full-pivot system will be connected to the prolific well in the adjacent 331-acre field. The 70-acre field in E1/2SE1/4 of Section 8 can also be irrigated.

The entire Meckling corn crop averaged a robust 200-plus bushels/acre in 2013. Excessive early moisture lessened the corn and soybean yields in 2015, but Section 27 still averaged over 200 bushels of corn. The 315 acre field saw yields in the 140 bushel range, but the 331 field had a corn average of 160 bushels. The 2015 harvest saw a return of nearly a 150 bushel corn crop across the board.
